Ramanath Rai flags off “Koti Vriksha” Campaign

Mangaluru July 1, 2016: Minister for Forest, Ecology and Environment B Ramanath  Rai flagged off “Koti Vriksha” Campaign by planting saplings alongside the road near Urva on Friday July 1. The campaign was jointly organized by MCC and Forest department.

Speaking on the occasion, Ramanath Rai said that  Mangaluru will turn to greenery in coming days as lot of awareness programmes are lined up to preserve the environment. Similarly, lot of saplings will be planted alongside the road where the trees have been axed, he said and urged people to come forward to convert Mangaluru into a green city.

MLA JR Lobo, MLC Capt Ganesh Karnik, Mayor Harinath , Shashidhar Hegde, Lancelot Pinto and others were present on the occasion.

Later, on behalf  of DK District School Drivers’ Association, Sunil Kumar Bajal submitted a memorandum to Ramanath Rai and MLA JR Lobo. Speaking to the media, Sunil Kumar said that School drivers should be taken into confidence while initiating measures regarding   safety of school children.
