Ramakrishna Mutt organizes 3-day seminar for PG and UG students

Mangalore, Sept. 26, 2012: The Ramakrishna Mutt organized a 3-day seminar titled “Darshana – The Vision” for post graduate and degree students at Swami Vivekananda Auditorium on September 26 to mark the 150th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda.

The brahmacharis of Ramakrishna Mutt marked the beginning of the program by chanting the Vedas. Swami Jitakamanandaji delivered the keynote address. He said that several activities have been arranged all over the world to mark the 150th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda.

Shobha Karandlaje, minister for energy, inaugurated the seminar by lighting the lamp with the other dignitaries on the dais.

In her address, she said that, although Swami Vivekananda died young, India still remembers his works and achievements, honors him, and considers him as a role model for the youth. She urged students to work to bring about positive changes in the country. Speaking against gender discrimination, she said that men should be made to do a woman’s work at least for one day so that they can learn to appreciate the hard work done by women.

Vijayalakshmi, a member of the Ramakrishna Mutt, delivered the vote of thanks.
