Mangaluru, Mar 21, 2016: The Tulunada Rakshana Vedike staged a protest in front of the DC office on March 21, Monday seeking early solutions to the problems arising in the district due to sand shortage.
Addressing the protestors, Yogish Shetty Jeppu, Founder President of the Vedike said the tough laws of the government have made it extremely difficult for locals to purchase sand. He also stated that people from neighbouring districts are availing sand mined from here illegally, while the ordinary people of the district are deprived of sand for construction purposes.
The apathy of the administration has further left the lay man in distress due to non-availability of sand, he alleged. The protestors also submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner highlighting their demands.
Jyothika Jain, President of the Women’s wing of the Vedike, Prashanth Rao Kadaba, President of the District unit and other office bearers and members of the Vedike participated in the protest.
