Mangaluru, Jan 18, 2019: MP Nalin Kumar’s statement that the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Finance headed by M Veerappa Moily was silent on the issue of merger of Vijaya Bank and Dena Bank with Bank of Baroda, has come under sharp criticism from former minister B Ramanatha Rai.
Addressing a press meet here on January 18, Friday he demanded an apology from the MP for his statement. He also stated that the MP had unnecessarily dragged the name of Moily into the controversy without any basis and without understanding facts.
He also pointed out that even Moily had written a strongly worded letter to the MP on the issue demanding apology for ’false’ statements.
Rai further criticised Nalin for mocking the Congress leaders who took part in a Padayatra demanding resuming of the highway works that has come to a standstill between BC Road and Addahole.
It was only after the Congress Padayatra that the MP has woken up from his slumber and has appealed to the Union Minister Nitin Gadkari on the issue, Rai claimed.
Party leader Ibrahim Kodijal, Corporators Kavitha Sanil, Naveen D’Souza were present at the press meet.
