Rai who said he knew about the minister  speaking to journalist Yashodhara Bangera over phone, at the same time added that  he did not know about the threatening case. Moreover, Rai argued that it was a personal issue of Abhayachandra Jain and added he would not comment on it.

He also suggested scribes to raise the issue with minister Abhayachandra himself.

When one of the journalists present at the press meet tried to take a dig on Rai stating  why he considered  it a personal issue of Abhayachandra when the minister had threatened to get the limbs of the journalist broken and make him beg, Rai retorted and said “ I know how many had come to the rescue of a journalist who was once arrested.”

Minister Rai was also critical about BJP leader CT Ravi  and said it would be better for Ravi to have evidences before hurling allegations. Commenting on the Rai Hatao programme which the BJP has said it would launch against him, the minister said the Congress too has to think of launching a programme on similar lines.

District Congress Interim President Ibrahim Kodijal, Mayor Mahabala Maarla and Party leader Kallige Taranath Shetty were also present.
