Mangaluru, March 19, 2016 : DK District in-charge Minister and State Minister for Forest and Ecology B Ramanatha Rai has finally broken his silence on the controversial Yettinahole Project and has accused the opposition of resorting to a negative campaign against the Project merely to gain political mileage.
Speaking to reporters at Circuit House here on March 19, Saturday, he said leaders of all parties are equally responsible as far as Yettinahole project is concerned.
He also questioned why the BJP leaders who are now opposing the project were silent when the then CM DV Sadananda Gowda implemented it. He further wanted to know why the present chief minister is being blamed for the project .
Rai further stated that if at all the project should be stopped there is a need for all leaders irrespective of party affiliations to unite.
He even pointed out how he had protested against the Netravathi River Diversion Project was first mooted.
He said as blamed by others he was not silent but was trying to discuss the issue with leaders.
To a question as to who will be responsible if the project costing nearly Rs 13,000 crores was a failure, Rai said all parties and leaders would be responsible for the same.
He also charged the BJP of only trying to fool the people through it’s so called campaign against the project and made it clear that neither him nor the CM should be blamed.
