Mangaluru, Aug 27, 2018: AICC Spokesperson Jaiveer Shergil has said that there was need for an investigation by the Joint Parliamentary Committee into the Rafale scam of the BJP which would incur a loss of Rs 41,205 crores to the state exchequer.
Speaking to reporters at the Congress Office here on August 27, Monday he said the BJP government at the Centre was against transparency in administration. He said it was proposed to manufacture the 108 Rafale aircrafts at the public sector HAL through technology transfer from France, and the cost of 36 aircrafts was fixed at Rs 18,940 crores during the NDA rule.
"However, PM Modi who visited France announced purchase of 36 aircrafts. The press communiqué from Reliance Defence Ltd has revealed that the price of the aircrafts was Rs 41,205 crores. The PM has not given a satisfactory reply as to why the same aircraft was being purchased by France by paying Rs 1670 crore more per aircraft when the price was fixed at Rs 526 crores," said Shergil.
"Why was the public sector HAL which has decades of experience in aircraft making neglected and a private company without any experience given the contract ?" he questioned and said this was an example of patronising the corporate friends.
AICC Media Wing Convenor Sanjay Singh, District Spokesperson Vinay Raj, TK Sudhir, Neeraj Pal and others were present.
