RTI activists hold condolence meet at Vinayaka Baliga’s Residence

Mangaluru Apr 7, 2016: Several RTI Activists and members of several organizations gathered to pay condolence for Vinayaka Baliga in his residence at PVS Kalakunj road on Wednesday April 6.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Speaking on the occasion eminent rationalist Narendra Nayak said that  several rumours about Baliga that he was corrupt and was a  blackmailer were being spread. "But he was true RTI activist, who faced several challenges individually to tackle the wrongdoing in the society. This meet is engaged to support Baliga and his family to seek justice," Prof. Nayak said.

Lawyer Ravindra Kamath said  Baliga had strived for the betterment of the society by fighting against wrongdoings in the society. A trust will be formed in his  name to continue his works. Also a website will be launched so that information related to RTI will be on public domain. A book will also be brought out about his works.

 Former Deputy Mayor Purushottam Chitrapur said that  Baliga’s murder was a huge loss for the society as he raised his voices against the corrupted officials.

Lawyer KP Vasudev Rao said Baliga had questioned the  alleged misappropriation of a temple’s  funds during its renovation works.

Advocate Asha Nayak, DYFI Member Dayananda Shetty, Venkatesh Baliga, Wilfred D’Souza, Activist Rohan Siri, Somnath Nayak and others were present.
