RTI activist murder: NaMo brigade founder seeks anticipatory bail

Mangaluru, Apr 13, 2016: Naresh Shenoy, the 39-year-old founder of NaMo Brigade who is under police investigation in connection with the murder of an RTI activist in Mangalore, has filed a plea for anticipatory bail before a sessions court here.


naresh shenoy1Shenoy, whose name cropped up in investigations into the March 21 murder of RTI activist Vinayak Baliga (51) has sought anticipatory bail under section 438 of the Code of Criminal Procedure fearing arrest by the police.

The court has given Mangalore police time to file their objections to the bail plea. RTI activist Vinayak Baliga was hacked to death a few metres from his house around 5.45 am on March 21. He was on his way for his customary visit to Venkatramana Temple in Mangalore City. Baliga had taken on various authorities in Mangalore through his RTI campaigns over various violations.
