Mangalore, July 27, 2012: The Rapid Action Force (RAF) was in Mangalore on July 26, Thursday for their drills. They had arrived from Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu.

As many as 60 RAF personnel marched from Attavar to Town Hall before leaving to Bantwal, where they will camp till the afternoon of July 27, Friday.

The RAF, a wing of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), was launched on Dec 11, 1991 and became functional in Oct 1992. RAF personnel are trained to deal with cases of public violence and riots and to implement relief measures during natural as well as artificial calamities.
