RAF -Rapid Action Force - new battalion in Mangaluru

Mangaluru, Oct 25, 2015: Speaking to media Oct 24,  ADGP Alok Mohan said that  RAF -Rapid Action Force  will set up a new battalion in Mangaluru.  He said that about 50 acre of land required for the RAF has been identified near airport and Central Home Department has sanctioned one RAF batallion to Karnataka.


Rapid Action Force - new battalion in Mangaluru 1He stressed  that the State government has decided to set up RAF batallion in the sensitive areas of Mangaluru, he said "A report has been sent to the Central Home Department on the land identified for the purpose. It would take time for setting-up a full-fledged batallion.


There is a need to procure huge amount of machineries and the vehicles for the batallion. The batallion will be restricted to the State," he added.

In addition to it, two India reserve batallions will come up at Davangere and Tumakuru respectively. The land has already been acquired for the purpose.  Praising Mangaluru city police and Dakshina Kannada district police, the ADGP Alok Mohan, said that the police ensured that no untoward incidents occurred during Mangaluru Dasara procession,  in which more than one lakh people had taken part.
