Mangaluru, July 9, 2017: Reports have brought to light that autorickshaw driver Mohammed Ayub had little time to think as violence broke out in B.C. Road. Instead of looking for a safer place to park his vehicle, he left it 50 meters away from the place of violence and rushed to his son’s school nearby as it was time for students to leave.

Ayub went to Best School and told authorities not to let students out of the school. The authorities safely sheltered  students till around 2 p.m., 90 minutes after the violence. But when  Ayub came back to the spot along with his nine-year-old son, he found his autorickshaw damaged by miscreants.

Though pained over the damage to his vehicle,  Ayub said: “I’m fortunate nothing happened to me or my son. I will somehow collect money and get the vehicle repaired.” Miscreants had stoned Ayub’s autorickshaw after overturning it.

The violence broke out around 12.30 p.m. after a few persons threw stones on vehicles in the procession carrying mortal remains of RSS volunteer Sharath Madiwala.

Among the many parents worried over the sudden violence included Vinay K., whose daughter studies in class 4 in a Government Primary School in B.C. Road. “I received a call from my daughter’s teacher saying that all children are safe and in the classroom.”  Vinay went to the school around 2 p..m. to pick his daughter.

The police have apprehended persons allegedly involved in stone throwing. Traffic on the busy Mangaluru-Bengaluru National Highway was restored around 2 p.m.
