Udupi, June 11, 2020: Udupi Deputy Commissioner G Jagadeesh has said there has been a change in quarantine rules in Udupi following the government permitting the administration to decide on home quarantine or institutional quarantine.
Speaking at a meeting held on June 10, Wednesday, he said quarantine rules will be made more strict in the district. Those coming from outside states will have to undergo 14 days of quarantine. Posters will be pasted outside the houses of those in quarantine and even neighbours will be informed. The staff of Gram Panchayats deputed to keep an eye on those in quarantine will have to visit the houses and update information in quarantine watch app, he said.
Those violating home quarantine rules will have to face an FIR which will be filed by the Flying Squad. They will then be sent to institutional quarantine. Every taluk has two institutional quarantine facilities and those required can also opt for hotel quarantine, he said.
The DC also said in the event of anyone in home quarantine found roaming , the public should contact 100 number and inform the officials.
