Puttur student Aneesha to attend Tunisia fest showing off surfing

Puttur, Jan 6, 2017: Aneesha Nayak, a young surfer in the country, has won bronze medal for her project ’Hydrophobicity of Colocasia As A Wall Protector’ at the I-SWEEP, (International Sustainable World Energy, Engineering, and Environment Project) Project Olympiad held at Houston in the US.

A student of SSLC from Puttur, 50 km from Mangaluru, has been invited to attend I-FEST², an International Festival of Engineering Science and Technology in Tunisia, which will be held from January 6 to January 14. 

According to Aneesha, who is a student of Sudana Residential School, she is the first Indian to attend the fest which commenced seven years ago.

Speaking about the fest, Aneesha said that I-FEST² is an international festival of engineering science and technology in Tunisia.

The nine-day festival is hosted by ATAST, the Tunisian Association for the future of Science and Technology, open for all students and supervisors aged between 14-24, and even parents and professors.

The fest is divided into two main parts. First is the I-STC, the International Science and Technology Camp, where all participants get the chance to get rid of boredom, have fun, and even create. Second is the I-TSEF, the International Science and Technology Engineering Fair, which is a scientific competition in different areas that shall improve and develop the young scientists’ skills and show how innovative they can be. "All of this encourages them to apply their imagination and their creativity to technology innovations," she added.

Aneesha is also one of the youngest female surfers from India to feature in the documentary ’Chicks On Board’ by Doerthe Eickelberg, a journalist and surfer from Germany.
