Puttur man sentenced to 10 yrs jail for raping minor Dalit girl

minor dape rape13dec21 1Mangalore, Dec 21, 2013: A  man hailing from Kutrumpady in Puttur who has been convicted in the case of rape of a minor Dalit girl has been sentenced to ten years of imprisonment by the Second Additional District and Sessions Court on December 21, Saturday.

Anil hailing from Kutrupady in Puttur was earlier convicted in the case on December 20, Friday.

He was arrested on charges of raping a 14 year old girl who was studying in ninth standard. He was accused of raping the girl twice in October last year and January this year. The victim was the daughter of a labourer couple.


Judge Uma M G sentenced convict with 10 years of imprisonment and fine of Rs 8,000. Anil was sentenced with 7 years imprisonment and Rs 3,000 fine under IPC section 376(1), 6 months imprisonment and Rs 1,000 fine under section 506, two years imprisonment and Rs 1,000 fine under the SC/ST Prevention of Atrocities Act, 10 years of imprisonment and Rs 5,000 fine under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012. The judge considered the maximum punishment of 10 years of imprisonment for the arrested.
