Chandrahas 9The incident which took place on February 19 came to light only on April 5 after the police arrested the accused based on the complaint of his wife’s brother. Until then the accused Chandrahas (27) of Puttur Anavumoole had made everyone  believe that his wife had gone missing while he had actually murdered  her.

Chandrahas  who worked in a textile shop at Hosapete eight years ago had fallen in love with Bharathi of Hampi who too was working in the same shop and had married her. After marriage he had opened his own textile shop. It is said on February 19, Bharathi had started pestering Chandrahas to buy a car. In a fit of anger, he had reportedly slapped her following which she fainted and died. Fearing arrest, he had chopped her body into 15 pieces, filled them  in four bags and then dumped the same  at the LC colony near  the Railway Station road.

He had then convinced Bharathi’s family against lodging a police complaint and had subsequently gone missing. This gave room for doubts following which Bharathi’s brother had lodged a police complaint.
