Puttur college student wins national gold in swimming

Puttur, Nov 03 2017: Vaishav Hegde, a student of St. Philomena College in Puttur, who represented Mangalore University in the All India Inter-University Swimming Competition in Chandigarh recently, has bagged two gold medals and a silver medal for the second consecutive year.


Vaishav Hegde .The competition was conducted in Punjab University from October 26 to 30, 2017.

Vaishav Hegde bagged a gold, a silver and a bronze medal in swimming in the competition last year also conducted in Chandigarh under the auspices of Punjab University. He set a record in 50 m breaststroke last year, a release from Kishore Kumar C.K., Director, Department of Physical Education at the university, said.

He bagged gold medals in 100 m and 50 m breaststroke categories last month. Vaishav Hegde won silver in the 50 m freestyle.
