Puttur Mahalingeshwara Temple slaps notice on priest for contesting polls

Puttur, May 24, 2016: In an interesting development, the Executive Officer of Puttur’s famous Shree Mahalingeshwara Temple has served a notice to the temple priest  Kuntaru Ravisha Tantri  who had contested the assembly elections in Kasargod.


Kuntaru Ravish...Though the notice was  sent to the  Tantri on May 13 the issue came to the notice of the outside world only on May 23, Monday.


In the notice, the Executive Officer has questioned why someone else could not be appointed  to the position which Tantri enjoyed in the temple.

The notice has directed  the priest to reply within 10 days. The priest who has admitted that he has received the notice said  he still had time to reply to it.

He also reportedly told that the temple management had changed the priests even in the past citing different reasons.
