Puttur, May 24, 2015: A farmer from Kalapparu near Shirady who could not repay his loans and was a distressed lot, has reportedly committed suicide by consuming poison.
The deceased is Padmayya Gowda (25). He has left behind his wife, a son and a daughter. Gowda owned an acre of rubber plantation and had reportedly availed loan from a co-operative society for his daughter’s wedding but was unable to repay the loan.
The Co-operative Society, it is learnt, had even served a notice to him over non-repayment of loan.
A case has been registered by Uppinangady Police.
