Puttur : Daylight robbery in Badagabannur; cash, jewels worth lakhs stolen

 Puttur, October 26, 2016: In a shocking case of daylight robbery reported from Ambatemoole Padhekarya in Badagabannur village of Puttur taluk, a group of ten assailants which barged into a house, has escaped with cash and valuables worth several lakhs of rupees.

According to eyewitnesses the thieves who arrived by a  vehicle during noon, tied down the lady and the housemaid who were in the house, fastened their mouths with plaster and escaped with  silver ornaments weighing half kg  and other jewellery worth over Rs 2.5 lakhs. They even had  broke open a cupboard using an iron rod.

The house owner Vishnu Bhat, a farmer was away in Perla to attend some programme when the incident took place.

It is  learnt the robbers had enquired about Vishnu Bhat’s sons and were speaking Kannada and Tulu  and that some of them were masked.

Sources said some of the robbers even claimed that Vishnu Bhat’s son owed them money which was denied by Bhat’s wife Savitri.

The involvement of some locals behind this crime is not ruled out. Moreover there are no houses in the vicinity of Bhat’s house.

Senior police officials including Bhushan Gulabrao Borase, ASP Vedamurthi  Puttur ASP Rishyanth and others visited the spot. Investigations are in progress.
