Puttur: Cops nab five member burglary gang

Puttur, Apr 06, 2018 : District Crime Information Bureau (DCIB) of Dakshina Kannada District Police has nabbed a gang of burglars who were carrying on an organized racket of robbing houses.

DCIB Inspector Sunil Y. Naik along with personnel stumbled upon the gang accidently during routine night rounds at Mani near Puttur on Thursday night. When the squad reached Kollaje Bus Stop near Kumbra, they observed a group of five behaving suspiciously.


Upon inquiring into their whereabouts, the police found that all of them were from Bihar state and spoke only in Hindi. It was also discovered that the five were carrying knife, iron rod, chisel and hammer, chilipowder, hand gloves and plaster to aid them in attempting burglary into the houses of rich persons of the locality. All the suspects were arrested and handed over to Puttur Rural Police Station for further investigation according to a media release from the Office of the Superintendent of Police, D. K. District.


The accused persons are identified as Pramod Sharma (33), Ankush Raj (27), Tuntun Kumar (24), Karan Kumar (19) and Prince Kumar (19).
