Puttur: Astrologer arrested on rape charges

Puttur, March 11, 2018: The Puttur Town Police have arrested an astrologer  from Bannur Nekkila on the charges of raping a girl. The accused has been identified as  Balachandra Acharya (34).

The accused who was a bachelor was operating from his house. It is said on March 3, a couple from Puttur Kasaba had arrived at his place along with their daughter and had discussed some matter relating to Dosha Parihara. Sources said the astrologer asked the couple to sit outside and had taken the girl inside a room where he raped her.

A complaint was lodged in this connection on March 9 following which the accused was arrested and produced before the court. He has been remanded to judicial custody.
