Provide sites to poor on priority basis, Sorake tells officials

Udupi, June 04, 2014:  Udupi District in-charge Minister  Vinaykumar Sorake has directed the authorities concerned to  provide sites to the poor on a priority basis depending upon the availability of land.

Speaking after reviewing the progress of Kaup constituency at a meeting held on June 3, Tuesday, the minister said several applications seeking house sites are being received by the authorities. He also suggested to have an officer to look into the issue.

Taluk Panchayat Chief Executive Officer  Manjunathaiah informed the meeting that 41 acres of land was available in Udupi taluk. Dr Muddumohan, Deputy Commissioner stated that the task of constructing sites was underway  after convening the taluk level meeting under the presidentship of Assistant Commissioner Yogeshwar.

 ZP CEO Kanagavalli informed that an action plan for Rs 20.35 crore is ready to provide water and other basic amenities in Kaup.

The minister appreciated the efforts put in by the administration to tackle drinking water problem.

PWD Executive Engineer Chandrashekhar, PMGSY Engineer Suresh Shetty, Arun of Nirmithi Kendra and other officials  presented progress reports of their respective departments.
