Protests in Bhatkal over Inappropriate behavior of TTE with Bhatkally Woman

Bhatkal, October 19, 2016: A case has been registered against Travelling Ticket Inspector of Konkan Railway on charges of Misbehaving with woman Passenger. The Incident took place on Mangalore- Delhi Mangala Express at about late night on 18th October 2016.

As per the sources, Muhammad Mujeeb Askeri, a resident of Farooqui Street Bhatkal was travelling from Mangalore to Bhatkal on the said train with his family. He allegedly bought ticket for the general compartment before boarding the train.

And occupied seats in the reserved compartment with his family, and requested TTE to allot them seats in the reserved compartment, the TTE agreed to allot them seat at an additional fine of 530/- Rupees. Things complicated when an second TTE arrived and interrupted, he asked Mujeeb and his family to move to General Compartment and allegedly woke up Mujeeb’s wife by touching her, who was asleep. This didn’t go down well with Mujeeb and with the help of co-passengers he protested the act by TTE.

The train was initially halted for 30 minutes due to the protest, before moving towards Bhatkal. Mujeeb then took to Social media and reported the whole issue, the news broke as wildfire, resulting in rage in locals of Bhatkal. And before the train could reach Bhatkal a group of people had reached Bhatkal Railway station protesting for the same.

As soon as the train reached Bhatkal Railway station, people made the train stop again for about 45 minutes and urged railway police to arrest the said TTE immediately. However Tamayya Bhat, (The said TTE) was not found on the train after both locals and Railway police searched for him on train.

Railway Police Force (RPF) Inspector Shivram Rathod confirmed that a complained has been recorded and a case has been registered against Tamayya Bhat.
