Mangaluru, Nov 26, 2015 : A serious demand for  venue of protests in Mangaluru city; i e: the entrance to the Deputy Commissioner’s office – is likely to be shifted to an alternative permanent location, like Freedom Park in Bengaluru, shortly.

At a peace committee meeting here on Nov 25. Wednesday, DK DC  Adoor .B. Ibrahim said that the district administration will consult the Mangaluru City Corporation for allotting a permanent location for it and a decision to this effect would be taken soon.

Many present at the meeting were of the view that many speakers made provocative statements at protest meetings. Such statements drew the attention of many and it gave scope for communal reaction.

Traffic chaos :  Processions from Ambedkar Circle to the DC office were holding up  traffic. The venue should be shifted for both reasons, they added.  A participant suggested that henceforth while allowing protests, the reason for holding the protest should be recorded while giving permission.

If the protesters or organisations deviated from the purpose for which permission had been granted, criminal cases should be booked against them.  Those present said that all protests should be allowed in a place which would not result in traffic jam and disturb normal life of people.
