Prostitution racket busted at lodge in Pumpwell ; 6 Bangla origin women rescued

Mangaluru, Jun 22, 2018  :  The police have busted a prostitution racket  that was underway at a lodge at Pumpwell following a raid on June 22, Friday morning.  As many as six young women of Bangladesh origin who were found in the lodge   have been rescued.

It was a tip off from Odanadi of Mysuru and Child Line that prompted the police team to raid the Annapoorna Hotel and Lodge at Pumpwell. Police have arrested a Belthangady resident named Pavan (26) who was at the  lodge. Another prime accused Shivaram Poojary has managed to give the cops a slip.

It has been gathered that the young women  were lodged in a secret room on the third floor of the  hotel where the unlawful  activities were underway. All the six women rescued were found in the same room. Sources said four minor girls who were at the lodge have managed to escape.

Police have also seized Bangla currency and mobile phones from the accused. Over 15 persons have been taken into custody for questioning.
