Proposal for Ambedkar Bhavan with govt, says minister Rai

Mangaluru, Dec 07, 2015: Speaking after offering tributes to the portrait of Dr B R Ambedkar on the occasion of his Mahaparinirvan Diwas at the District Congress Committee offices on Dec 6, Sunday,  District In-charge Minister B Ramanath Rai said, proposal for the establishment of Ambedkar Bhavan in Mangaluru has been sent to the state government, he added that it has been proposed to build the Bhavan in the place, which was earmarked initially, at a budget of Rs 12 crore.

ramanath rai.Minister Rai said Ambedkar had introduced the system of reservation in the Indian Constitution with an aim to ensure equality for people of all castes.The implementation of Fundamental Rights was challenging and hence, there was a need for reservation. The reservation system will be in need as long as the caste system exists. At the same time, struggle becomes inevitable for the effective implementation of Constitutional rights.

The State government has been implementing various schemes such as ’Anna Bhagya’, mid-day meals and other programmes to bring equality in the society, he said and added that the government has decided to waive loan borrowed from Ambedkar Nigam.

MLC Ivan D’Souza, district Youth Congress president Mithun Rai, DCC president in-charge Ibrahim Kodijal, Seva Dal leaders Ashraf, leaders P V Mohan, Nagendra, Padmanabha and T K Sudhir were present.
