Prof S V P Bhat Memorial Award conferred on Prof T P Ashok

Mangalore, Mar 26: The Prof S V Parameshwar Bhat Memorial Award was conferred on Prof T P Ashok, principal of Sagar, at an awards ceremony held at the auditorium of Canara College on March 26, Friday.

Fondly remembering his days at Sagar, Prof Ashok said that his spiritual knowledge was greatly enhanced at Sagar. He also spoke of the necessity of sharing one’s knowledge with others, especially through conversation. He said that writer Vaidehi and Vivek Rai have always supported him.

While appreciating the talented youth of DK, Prof Ashok expressed regret that their talents and efforts were going unnoticed owing to the powers wielded by the rich. However, globalization and modernization will create better job opportunities for the youth of today, he said. He claimed that the award he has received has boosted his self-confidence and encouraged him to achieve more in future.

Dr. B A Vivek Rai, professor of Wurzburg University in Germany, was the chief guest of the event. He said that Prof S V P Bhat played a very important role in the progress of the people of DK. He spoke of the necessity of establishing contact with politicians, but urged people against working for them as their servants.

Prof T P Ashok was felicitated with a memento, a shawl, and a prize of Rs 10,000. He later released the SVP card designed by Mayflower Media.

Erya Lakshminarayana Alva, the senior litterateur, presided over the programme. Vaidehi, the senior writer, was the chief guest of the occasion. Writer Chandrakala Nandavar and Shri S V Ramachandra Bhat, the son of Prof S V P Bhat, were also present during the occasion.
