Private buses resume service after thorough sanitization

Mangaluru, June 01, 2020: Private buses have resumed services in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts after a gap of over two months due to the Covid-19 lockdown. Buses are being sanitized completely both inside and outside before commencement of every trip. The sanitization work is done by a private firm.
However, passenger response has been poor since morning with only a handful of passengers travelling in the buses.
Dakshina Kannada Bus Operators’ Association has decided to operate only a few of the buses initially and will operate all the buses in a phased manner depending on the demand. Accordingly, out of 320 city buses, only 135 will operate today.
