Prisons DGP Satyanarayana Rao inaugurates Visitors’ Gallery at sub-jail premises

Mangaluru, May 03, 2017 : A Visitors’ Gallery constructed at the Mangaluru Sub-Jail premises here at a cost of Rs 17.5 lakhs was inaugurated by  DGP(Prisons) Satyanarayana Rao on May 3, Wednesday. The  building has been constructed for the convenience of the public who come to visit the prison as well as the relatives of the prisoners.

Satyanarayana Rao also  laid foundation for  a new entrance to the prison on the occasion. The project would be taken up at a cost of Rs 12.5 lakhs.

Speaking on the occasion Rao said highest priority would be accorded to provide   good security in the prison.  Steps would be taken to install mobile security pole instead of the existing jammer, he added.

Mangaluru Jail which is considered on par with the Bengaluru prison, would shortly be shifted to the outskirts of the city. A new prison would  be constructed on a 68 acre land in Kurnadu of Mudipu village at a cost of Rs 200 crores, he informed.
