Mangaluru, May 21, 2019: Deputy Commissioner Sasikanth Senthil has informed that the administration has taken steps to supply water upto June 6 as per the present arrangement considering the dipping water level in Thumbay dam.
The DC gave information on the various measures taken by the administration to mitigate drought situation and also to face monsoon eventualities, at a meeting held in the presence of District in-charge Minister U T Khader.
He also informed that arrangements have been made to supply water to elevated areas through tankers. He said a 24 hour helpline is operational to solve the water woes of the people. He further stated that there is no dearth of funds to solve the water problem.
The DC said the administration has identified open wells and borewells to ensure water supply. Of the 48 open wells identified 26 have been cleaned the rest will also be cleaned and the water purity tested. Water rationing will stop if it rains, he DC said.
The officials also informed the minister on the various measures taken to clear storm water drains ahead of monsoons.
