Preparations in full sway for Vishwa Tuluvere Parba: Rai

Mangalore,Oct 30, 2014  : The preparations for the Vishwa Tuluvere Parba are on high speed. The festival is organised jointly by the Akhila Bharatha Okkuta and Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy, at Sahyadri College of Engineering and Management premises at Adyar on December 12, 13 and 14, said Districtin-Charge Minister Ramanath Rai.

The festival is being organised as a part of silver jubilee celebrations of first world Tulu convention held in 1994. “People from Tulu speaking districts should join their hands with each other to make the programme a grand success".

Rai said also that appeals  to the government to release funds for the festivities have been made and are hopeful of getting funds from the government. Convener Kadri Navaneeth Shetty said that ‘Tuluveraisiri’—a Tulu cultural competitions will be held as a part of the festival. Twenty teams from outside the State have already enrolled for the competitions. Literary, cultural and sports competitions will be held during the three-day festivities. ‘Tulu cinema padarangitha,’ ‘Tuluvere Thuthaithe,’ ‘Beary-Konkani kala vaividya,’ ‘Tulunada vaibhava,’ ‘Mumbai Tuluver,’ ‘Tulu Kalasiri,’ ‘telikenalike,’ and others will be held. Under the name of ‘Sri Bhoothanatheshwara gubbu,’ around 20 sports competitions including tug of war, wrestling will be held. In the memory of Mulki Sundararama Shetty ‘Tulunada kabaddi’ competitions will be held.

To introduce delicacies of Tulunadu to the people, food courts will serve variety of mouth watering dishes. Apart from this, there will be a exhibition of artifacts, culture and tradition of the land.

‘Sahyadri Tuluveraisiri’—a cultural competitions will be held for PU, degree and professional college students.

Finance committee President Prof M B Puranik said that to mobilise funds for the Tuluvere Parba, the organising committee has already launched the coupons (‘Pundi panavu’) and requisition letter to raise funds. The coupons have been receiving good response from the public. In fact, aperson from Dubai has bought coupons worth Rs two lakh, he said. Those who would like to take part in the competitions and exhibition should register their names before October 31.   Tulu Sahitya Academy President Janaki Brahmavar among others were present.
