Pregnant woman rape, murder case : Convict gets death penalty

Kundapur, Feb 20, 2018 : Prashanth  Mogaveera who was convicted  in the Padugopadi pregnant woman rape and murder case has been sentenced to death by the  Kundapur Additional   District Sessions Court on February 20, Tuesday.

The Court has sentenced him to ten years of imprisonment for raping a pregnant woman, another 10 years jail for theft, four years jail for kidnap bid and one year  jail for forcible entry  into the house. District Magistrate Prakash Khanderi sentenced him to death for killing the pregnant woman as well as the child in her womb.

Hundreds had gathered outside the court premises curious to know about the quantum of punishment to the man who was  convicted on February 14.

The incident  had taken place on April 11, 2015 at Moodugopadi. Prashanth who had entered the house of Indira  had  requested for water and then raped the woman.

He later crushed her  head using a boulder  and escaped with her gold necklace. He was arrested within a day of the incident.
