Preetham Upadhya of Sharada Vidhyalaya wins city final of spelling contest

Mangalore, Mar 5, 2012 :  Preetham Upadhya of Sharada Vidyalaya School won the city final of HDFC Life Spell Bee – India Spells 2012, the fourth edition of the largest spelling competition for school children, held in Mangalore on March 4 Sunday at Presidency School.

He is now eligible to participate in the national finals, which are scheduled to be held in Mumbai. A total of 18 schools all over Mangalore participated in this event. The runners up are Vaishnavi Ballal of Sharada Vidyalaya School and Adithya Shetty of Presidency School.

Over 125 school students participated in this contest. The chief guest of the awards ceremony was G. Thangadurai, the director of Presidency Group of Schools (Mangalore and Bangalore).

HDFC Life Spell Bee – India Spells 2012 is sponsored by Horlicks and Times of India and is an initiative of 360 Degree’s Experience. The competition is the Indian version of the Scripps Spelling Bee. The educational partner of this event is Times NIE.
