Pre-election Confidence Building - DC, SP visit naxal areas

Mangaluru, 11 April, 2018: Deputy Commissioner of Dakshina Kannada Sasikanth Senthil S. and District Superintendent of Police Dr B. R. Ravikanthe Gowda visited naxalite infested areas in Belthangady taluk on Tuesday 10th April and appealed to the villagers to vote without fear or favour.

This was part of a pre-election confidence building measure taken up by the District Administration among villagers living on the periphery of the forests which are considered to be naxal infested. The two top officers visited Naravi, Kuthloor, Navara, Sulkeri and other villages and held interaction sessions with the villagers.

They also reviewed the security arrangement in the area in view of reported naxalite movement in the adjoining jungles. 

Karnataka Assembly Elections are scheduled for 12th May and the results will be declared on 15th May. The Election Commission has initiated SVEEP (Systematic Voters Education & Electoral Participation) programme to encourage voting among the citizens. It has also instructed all local administrations to ensure peaceful voting and maximum voter turnout.
