Udupi, Feb 11, 2015 : Akki Muhurtha, a pre-Paryaya ritual was performed at the Udupi Krishna Mutt on February 11, Wednesday. Sri Vishwesha Theertha Swamiji of Pejawar Mutt is set to ascend the Paryaya throne this year.
Akki Muhurtha is a practice of gathering rice meant for Anna Daana or mass feeding during the two years of the next Paryaya period.
As part of Akki Muhurtha, a grand procession was taken out with the Rice Mudi placed in a tastefully decorated palanquin.The Pejawar seer also visited the Lord Mukhyaprana Temple as also Anantheshwara and Chandramauleshwara Temples and received rice from the Ashta Mutt seers. The ritual culminated with a ‘Pada Pooja.’
At a function held in this connection a Facebook page named ‘Panchama Paryaya’ was launched by the seer. A book on Tulu script was also released.
The seers of Admar, Sode, Shiroor and Palimar Mutts were present.
