Praveen Poojari case : All 18 arrested persons remanded to judicial custody

Udupi, Aug 19, 2016: All the 18 persons arrested in connection with the murder of Praveen Poojari at Kenjar Santhekatte on August 18 allegedly by right wing activists have  been produced before the court and remanded to judicial custody till August 31.

The arrested include District Convenor of Hindu Jagarana Vedike Aravind Koteshwara who is also a petrol bunk owner. Sources reveal that it was Aravind who instigated the attack on Poojari and another youth Akshay Devadiga who were in the vehicle.

It has also been gathered that many more persons have been questioned by the police in connection with the case.

In the meantime, the Hindu Jagarana Vedike has clarified that it was in no way connected with the incident. Vedike leader Jagadish Shenava has in a press release alleged that there was a false propaganda against his organisation. He also claimed that the Vedike was trying to prevent cattle smuggling within legal framework.
