Mangaluru, Dec 28, 2016 : Senior Congress leader B Janardhana Poojary has now trained guns on Mangaluru Mayor Harinath. The reason- the recent hike in property tax under Self-Assessment Scheme.
Addressing press persons here on December 28, Wednesday Poojary has demanded a public apology from the Mayor for lying by reportedly telling the media recently that he (Poojary) had been informed about the increase in the Property Tax in advance.
"The Mayor’s statement has given the impression that I have given my consent for the hike in the tax, but that is not the case," said Poojary and added that the Mayor had made such a statement for his own political gains and he has to apologise for the same.
Poojary also launched a scathing attack on his own party and said it has failed to keep up its words on property tax given to the electorate prior to the elections. The Congress must keep up its promise, said Poojary.
Referring to the controversial Yettinahole Project, Poojary demanded that former CM Sadananda Gowda need to clarify as to how 2000 TMC water of Netravathi was going waste by joining the sea.
On Gowda as well as another former CM Moily who are hell bent upon implementing the project, Poojary questioned why they did not contest polls in the district.
Poojary also demanded apology from the prime minister for all the inconveniences caused to people owing to demonetization.
