Poojary deplores IT raids targeting Minister D K Shivakumar

Mangaluru, Aug 2,2017: Senior Congress leader B Janardhana Poojary has strongly condemned the IT raids on the offices and residences of State Energy Minister DK Shivakumar and  alleged that the Union Government was behind the move.

Addressing press persons in the city on August 2, Wednesday, Poojary said the IT Department does not belong to any individual or party and it was not proper to misuse it according to one’s whims and fancies.

"There have been raids at 39 places targeting D K Shivakumar with  CRPF protection. Is DK Shivakumar a terrorist ? Will leaders who speak against Modi meet this fate ?," Poojary questioned angrily. The legal procedures that are needed to be followed prior to an IT raid have not been adhered in this case, alleged Poojary.

Continuing, the senior leader said the raids have been done in view of the impending Rajya Sabha election. The efforts of the BJP to defeat the Congress  candidate in the Rajya Sabha elections will not succeed, Poojary said.
