Poojary demands commission of inquiry to investigate Yettinahole project

Mangaluru, Jan 9, 2016: Union Law Minister Sadananda Gowda has been committed criminal breach of trust in dealing with Yettinahole lift irrigation project, which proposed to lift water from Nethravathi tributaries to drought hit Kolar district, and he should be tried under section 463 and 464 of Indian Penal Code for betraying people of Coastal Karnataka, former union minister B.Janardhan Poojary said.

Irked by Sadananda Gowda’s recent statement on Yettinahole project, Poojary slammed union law minister and former MP of Mangaluru in a press meet held at Congress party office in Mangalore on 9 January 2016.

An enquiry commission should be formed to investigate the various omissions and commissions by two former chief ministers and others while planning, designing and sanctioning of the project. There has been several loose ends in the designing of the project and facts and figures were provided lacks authenticity, Poojary alleged.

Not only two deputy commissioners from Hassan and Dakshina Kannada districts failed to clarify the doubts of the people of these districts but also Chief Minister Siddaramaiah choose to keep mum on the subject, Poojary alleged. After implementing popular schemes like Ksheera Bhagya, Anna Bhagya and others it is high time for chief minister to take serious actions in order to clarify the doubts, if minister fail to do so people will not able to forgive him, he added.

Bandh not solution
Calling bandh in the name protest will not work and it is not the right way to seek justice. People should unite and raise their voice against the apathy on the part of the government, he said.  Senior Congress leader AC Bhandary, DD Kattemar, Corporator Appi, AC Vinayraj and others were present in the press meet.
