Mangaluru, Jan 16, 2015: Senior Congress leader and former union minister B Janardhana Poojary has described the founding of the Bharatiya Hindu Parishad in Puttur by a Congress leader as against the constitution of the Congress party and has demanded the DCC, KPCC and the AICC to initiate strict action against its founder.
Speaking to reporters at the District Congress Office here on January 15, Thursday, Poojary said Congress is a party which firmly believes in secular principles. A person who abides by this principle is only given the primary membership of the party. The setting up of the BHP is in violation of the secular principles and is an anti-party activity, he argued.
“The Congress party is not against any religion and there is no need to form a separate religion based organisation. If people of all religions in the Congress follow suit, then what will be the situation?” Poojary questioned and hoped the BHP Founder will realise this.
“ As long as he is in the Congress let him abide by its principles. If he cannot then it is better for him to quit and form some organisation,” Poojary said while indirectly referring to BHP Founder Kavu Hemanath Shetty. He said his earlier statement that some communal elements were in the party has been now found true.
‘Anti-people Modi Govt’ : Poojary said the land ordinance passed by the Narendra Modi lead union government has revealed its anti-farmer stance. The government is trying to override farmers, he alleged and also charged the government of pursuing anti-labour policies.
