In an unrelated statement, he also said that district in-charge minister Ramanath Rai should apologise for his mistakes.

Addressing media  on Wednesday September 6, Janardhana Poojary said, “Gauri Lankesh was gunned down by three miscreants when she reached her residence from work. The crime was committed by a sharp shooter and by looking at the murder, it can be said that the murder was planned properly in a professional manner. I condemn this brutal murder.”

Mr. Poojary also said that soon after the murder, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had called a press conference and said he did not know the reason behind the murder. Mr. Poojary questioned this, as the police and intelligence departments are working under him. He felt it would be better if the case is handed over to the CBI. “This incident has brought back memories of the murders of Kannada writer Kalaburagi in Dharwad, and rationalist Narendra Dabholkar in Pune. Is this not a political murder?” questioned Poojary.

Mangaluru Chalo

Referring to the Mangalore Chalo rally, he said, “The motive behind the Mangaluru Chalo is the resignation of Ramanath Rai. Being a minister, Ramanath Rai has never shown his responsibility. He needs to apologise for his mistakes. Then people will definitely forgive him. But instead Ramanath Rai has shown his arrogance,” Poojary said.
The senior congress leader felt said, “When Mangaluru is in a bad state relating to peace, BJP should not take law into their hands.”

When asked about Congress’ Unity March on September 12, Poojary said, ” I always support unity marches no matter who organizes it.” Poojary said that if his health was good, he would have joined the unity march too. But he added that PFI and BJP have been excluded from the Unity March due to the fear of violence erupting.

When asked about the Supreme Court order on a CBI probe into the unnatural death  last year of  DySP  M K Ganapati case, Poojary said,” BJP state president Yeddyurappa is demanding the resignation of minister K J George and what is wrong in it? It is good that the CBI will investigate the case. If someone is right, then there is no need to get worried.”

Congress leaders Karunakar Shetty, Vijay Kumar Shetty and Ajith were present.
