Mangaluru, Nov 18, 2014: Senior Congress leaderhas lashed out at Sri Rama Sene Chief Pramod Muthalik for his recent statement calling people to ‘Chop the hands of rapists.’
Speaking to reporters here on November 17, Monday, the former union minister said the Sri Rama Sene leader was encouraging cruelty through such statements and added that no one has the right to take law into their hands.
Poojary also referred to the 2009 Amnesia pub attack case in Mangalore in which Sri Rama Sene activists were the accused and questioned whether Muthalik has preferred to forget the way in which the Sene activists treated young women who were in the bar at the time of the incident.
As expected, Poojary also hit out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said the Prime Minister instead of visiting foreign nations and speaking about safety and empowerment of women, should try to visit different parts of the nation and assuage the women who are victims of violence.
“The Prime Minister should also visit Mangalore to know the situation here,” Poojary demanded.
Harikrishna Bantwal and Leelaksha Karkera were also present at the press meet.
