Mangalore, Mar 18, 2014: Senior Congress leader and party’s DK candidate for Lok Sabha elections Janardhana Poojari has been booked for violation of election code of conduct.
The Election Officer has on March 17, Monday filed a suo moto complaint against Poojari for derogatory remarks against BJP Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi during the Padayatra taken out by the Congress in Moodbidri on March 16, Sunday.
Poojari while addressing a public meeting near the Rajeev Gandhi Commercial complex after the Padayatra had launched a scathing attack on Modi saying ‘Can Modi handle the nation when he has failed to manage his marital life?’
The event was recorded by the sector officers and the video clipping was monitored by the Assistant Election Officer Dr Ashok who considering it as a violation of the poll code filed a complaint.
A similar complaint has also been lodged against Santosh Shetty, a corporator of Navi Mumbai who at the same meeting had challenged RSS to reveal Modi’s father’s name.
