Poll code violation : Election Commission serves notice to Karkala MLA Sunil Kumar

Udupi, Feb 18, 2014 : The Election  Commission has served notice to Karkala MLA Sunil Kumar for violating  election code of conduct during the  last assembly elections. 

The notice comes  in the wake of a complaint lodged by Karkala Municipal Councillor Shubhada Rao on November 13, 2013.

Speaking to reporters at the Patrika Bhavan here on February 17, Monday, he said Sunil Kumar who was a BJP candidate from Karkala, had during the previous election distributed  hand bills having photos of  Bahubali, St Lawrence Church, Koti Chennaya and other Gods,. This was nothing but misuse of religion for political gains, he had alleged in the complaint.

Shubhada Rao has said now that the election commission has served a notice, he was hopeful that  action would be taken against the erring legislator.
