Poll code violation: Complaint filed against MP Nalin, 7 other BJP leaders

Puttur, Feb 1, 2015:  A complaint has been lodged against eight BJP leaders including Dakshina Kannada MP Nalin Kumar Kateel for. Sullia MLA S Angara and Karkala MLA Sunil Kumar for violating election code of conduct in Puttur.



Nalin Kumar KateelIt is learnt the eight had held an electioneering meeting at Savanur  after  5pm on January 30, Friday even after the expiry of time limit for campaigning for the by election to the Belandoor ZP constituency near Kadaba. Pushpavathi Gowda Kaluvaje is the BJP candidate from this constituency.

Sources said the officials had by mistake given the deadline for the meeting at 10 pm on Friday initially.However, upon soon realising that it was in violation of code of conduct, the officials had contacted the BJP leaders and had directed them to end the meeting by 5 pm. It is said the BJP leaders chose to give the instructions a go by and the meeting even continued after 5 pm.

Naeem Hussain, Sector Officer lodged the complaint  against Nalin, Angara and six others namely
 Pulasya Rai,Puttur Taluk Panchayat President, Pratap Simha Nayak, District BJP President, Sanjeeva Matandur, Sullia unit Chief, Dinesh Medu and Harish Kanjipili, TP Member.
