Police seize illegally distilled spirit

Mangaluru, Nov 04, 2017: The Central Crime Branch police on Friday arrested three persons on the charge of illegally transporting spirit and recovered 350 litres of spirit and a car used to transport the same.

 

The police have identified the accused as Denzil Wickson D’Souza, 28, resident of Elyarpadavu, Mohandas M. Shetty, 36, resident of Konaje, and Boja Kottari, 50, resident of Munnur.

A release from the police here said that the CCB personnel arrested the accused at Elyarpadavu while they were allegedly attempting to transport the stored illegally distilled spirit. While a few cans of spirit were in the car, some were kept inside a rented house, the police said. The seized materials, including the car, were worth around Rs. 7 lakh.

The police claimed that Mohan Shetty is the kingpin of the illegal distillation of spirit and allegedly procured spirit from Manjeswaram in Kerala.

The accused as well as the seized material have been handed over to the Konaje police for further action.
