Police hand over stolen gold to Kollur Temple

Mangaluru, Aug 3, 2016: Reports indicate that the police handed over more than  2 kg gold ornaments to the executive officer at Kollur Temple on Aug 1, Monday; the ornaments were seized from accused Shivarama Madivala.

It is said that the ornaments were pledged to various banks and finance companies; the police succeeded in seizing gold ornaments worth Rs 75 lakh with the help of a special squad under the supervision of Udupi  Superintendent of Police Annamalai.

During an inquiry, the accused confessed about the gold that was kept in banks and also about 430 grams gold hidden at the temple.

70 grams gold kept at Areshirur CA Bank was also returned to the temple as per court orders.
