Police firing : Congress Minorities Cell demands Rs 25 lakh compensation for victims’ families

Mangaluru, Dec 23, 2019:  The DK District Congress Minorities Cell which has strongly condemned last Thursday’s police firing on Citizenship Amendment Act protestors in Mangaluru, has demanded a compensation of Rs 25 lakh each to the family of the two persons killed in the firing. The Congress Minorities Cell has also demanded government job to one member of each family.

District Congress Minorities Cell leaders placed forth the above demands at a press meet here on December 23, Monday.  They demanded an investigation into the police firing by a sitting judge of the High Court and said the Rs 10 lakh compensation announced by the government to the family members of the two deceased persons was not enough.

Lashing out at the Police Department for firing at innocents, the  leaders also condemned the state government move to suppress the agitation  while protesting is a  democratic right of the people.

The Minority cell leaders further  alleged that implementation of Citizenship Amendment Act   aimed at diverting public attention from the pressing economic problems confronting the nation.
