Police arrest a person in connection with athlete suicide case

Udupi, Sept. 29, 2011: The Brahmavar police have arrested a person called Mizhbhan (22) who allegedly harassed Prithvi by calling her over the phone.

Remembering his talented daughter Prithvi S. P. (16) who had a number of achievements to her credit, Shekar Poojary said that she was a bold girl who used to advice her father in times of difficulties and that she has left her family in darkness.

Recalling the last time he spoke to his daughter, he said that she called him at 9:45 a.m. on Tuesday and seemed to be very happy to have won the second place in the javelin throw event at a sports meet in Mandya.

Prithvi’s maternal uncle said that his niece committed suicide because she was unable to tolerate the way her warden Sunitha Amin, coordinator Chandrashekar Hegde, and coach Sathyanarayana used to treat her.

The Brahmavar Sports Club was handling Prithvi’s training expenses.
